Solace is quite an atypical game: its gameplay is taken straight from classic 2D arcade games, but its actual subject matter is – curiously enough – the five stages of personal grief.
Each stage corresponds to a level where your shots compose a melody matching the feeling being worked through. The music for the anger stage, for example, is quite raucous, while the denial stage is much more serene.
Despite seeming easy at the start, the game gets way more complicated in the last levels, where you'll need good reflexes to deflect all the enemy attacks that come your way.
Solace is an entertaining game that, despite being a bit short, is definitely worth a look due to the excellent experience it transmits.
